Privacy Policy

Overview

OurRecipes is a service operated by remarQable LLC ("we," "us," "our"). We respect your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Short version: we collect the bare minimum to run a recipe app — your email, your name, and the recipes you save. We don't sell your data. We don't run ads. Your recipes are yours.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account. Your email address (to sign in via magic link) and your first and last name (to personalize the app).
  • Recipes. Recipes, ingredients, steps, notes, photos, tags, kitchens, and grocery lists you create or import.
  • Kitchen sharing. If you invite someone to a shared kitchen, we store their email to deliver the invite.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data. Basic logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, timestamps) used to operate the service and prevent abuse.
  • Approximate location. Derived from IP at sign-in to help detect suspicious access. We do not collect precise location.

How we use it

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the service (sign-in, saving recipes, sharing kitchens).
  • Send transactional messages (magic links, kitchen invites, important account notices).
  • Diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the product.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell your data.

YouTube & Google account data

If you choose to connect your YouTube channel to claim a Kitchen, OurRecipes uses YouTube API Services and Google sign-in. By using this feature you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of your information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

What we request

We request read-only access to your YouTube account (the youtube.readonly scope) for a single purpose: to confirm that you own the channel you are claiming. During sign-in we read the list of channels your Google account manages and compare it to the channel you entered.

What we store

  • We store only your public YouTube channel id (the UC… identifier), to link your verified channel to your Kitchen.
  • We never store your Google password, access tokens, or refresh tokens. The authorization token is used once, in memory, to read your channel list, and is then discarded.
  • To build your recipe library, we read public information about your channel's uploads (titles, thumbnails, publish dates) via YouTube's public API, and only for a channel you have verified you own.

Limited Use

OurRecipes' use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google or YouTube data for advertising, do not sell it, do not transfer it except as needed to provide this feature or as required by law, and do not allow humans to read it except for security, to comply with law, or with your consent.

Revoking access

You can revoke OurRecipes' access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions page. Because we store no token, revoking has no effect on data at rest; to remove your verified channel from your Kitchen, contact us.

Sharing

We share information only with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the service (e.g., cloud hosting, transactional email, AI extraction for URL imports). These providers process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • People you choose. When you invite a member to a shared kitchen, the recipes and tags in that kitchen become visible to them.
  • Legal requests. Where required by law, valid legal process, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

If we are ever acquired or reorganized, information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will notify you of any change in control.

Cookies

We use a small number of first-party cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your selected kitchen. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Security

We protect your information using industry-standard practices: encrypted transit (HTTPS), encrypted-at-rest storage, CSRF protection, rate limiting, and short-lived magic link tokens. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

Retention

We keep your account and recipes for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention reasons.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We respond within 30 days.

Children

OurRecipes is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify account holders by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
