Terms of Service

The agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and OurRecipes LLC ("OurRecipes," "we," "us," "our") governing your use of the OurRecipes website and service. By using OurRecipes you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use OurRecipes. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. By using the service you represent that you meet these requirements.

Accounts

You sign in to OurRecipes with a magic link sent to your email address. You are responsible for keeping access to that email account secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms (see Termination, below).

Your content

"Your Content" means the recipes, ingredients, steps, notes, photos, tags, kitchen names, and other material you upload to or create within OurRecipes.

You own Your Content. We claim no ownership of it.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and process Your Content solely to operate, provide, and improve the service for you and the kitchen members you've invited. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except as needed for routine backups or to comply with law.

You represent that you have the right to upload Your Content and that it does not infringe anyone's rights.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use OurRecipes for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
• Upload content that infringes intellectual property, is defamatory, harassing, or otherwise objectionable.
• Attempt to access another user's account, recipes, or kitchen without permission.
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the service or circumvent any security or rate-limiting feature.
• Use the service to send spam, distribute malware, or attack third parties.
• Scrape, mirror, or systematically harvest content from the service.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercialize the service without our written permission.

URL imports & AI

OurRecipes lets you import recipes by URL using AI extraction. When you submit a URL, we fetch the page and pass relevant text to a third-party language model (currently provided by Anthropic) to extract ingredients and steps.

You are responsible for ensuring that the URLs you import are accessible to you and that your use of imported recipes complies with the source website's terms and applicable copyright law. The extracted text is stored as Your Content.

AI extraction is not perfect. Always review imported recipes before cooking.

YouTube integration

OurRecipes lets you connect your YouTube channel to verify ownership and import your videos as recipes. This feature uses YouTube API Services. By using it, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of your information is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You may revoke OurRecipes' access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions.

We request read-only access only to confirm you own the channel you connect; we store your public channel id and never store your Google credentials or tokens (see our Privacy Policy). You represent that you own or are authorized to manage any channel you connect, and that importing its content into your Kitchen complies with applicable law and the rights of any third parties.

Fees, subscriptions & creator earnings

Using OurRecipes is free. We do not charge to build a Kitchen, import or create recipes, keep grocery lists, share kitchens, or send free newsletters.

Paid subscriptions (where available). When the feature is enabled for your Kitchen, you may choose to offer paid subscriptions to your audience and set your own price. OurRecipes retains a platform fee of 10% of your subscription revenue, unless we have agreed a different rate with you in writing. Payment-processor fees and applicable taxes are separate and come out of your share, so your actual take-home is your list price less our 10% and less those processor fees. Any figures we show you in the app for processor fees are estimates; what the processor actually charges is what applies. There is no separate monthly platform fee. We earn only when you do.

You are the merchant of record. Where you offer paid subscriptions, your subscribers transact directly with you, not with OurRecipes. This is a real responsibility, not a formality: you are the seller, your name appears on your subscribers' card statements, and you are responsible for refunds, chargebacks, and disputes on your own subscriptions, as well as any sales tax, VAT, or similar obligations they create.

Taxes and tax forms. Because you are the seller, sales tax, VAT, and similar obligations on your subscriptions are yours to assess and remit. You can turn on the payment processor's own tax-calculation tools from your processor dashboard if you want it to calculate and collect those amounts for you; we do not enable them on your behalf. Income reporting works the same way: because processing fees are charged directly to your account rather than to us, the payment processor, not OurRecipes, issues your annual tax form (in the United States, a Form 1099-K) where its filing thresholds are met, and you are responsible for keeping your tax details current with it. Thresholds and requirements change and vary by jurisdiction, so treat this as a description of how the plumbing works rather than as tax advice, and consult your own tax advisor about your obligations.

Payments & payouts. Subscription payments and creator payouts are handled by a third-party payment processor (currently Stripe). To accept payments you must complete that processor's onboarding, which includes identity verification, and your use of paid features is also subject to its terms and payout requirements. The processor may restrict or disable an account that does not meet its requirements, in which case you will not be able to take new subscriptions until it is resolved. We may withhold or delay payouts where reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, chargebacks, or legal compliance.

Subscriber billing. If you subscribe to a creator's Kitchen, the price, billing cycle, renewal, and cancellation terms are presented at the point of purchase. Paid subscriptions renew until cancelled. If you cancel, your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for and is not renewed after that. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and refunds on a creator's subscriptions are that creator's decision to make, not ours.

If a creator stops charging. A creator may set their Kitchen back to free at any time. Existing paid subscriptions then end at the close of the period already paid for, and those subscribers keep the access they paid for until then.

We may also offer other optional paid add-ons (for example, printed cookbooks). Any paid product is optional, clearly described, and subject to additional terms presented at the point of purchase. We may change our fees prospectively with reasonable notice.

Third parties

OurRecipes integrates with third-party services (such as email delivery, AI extraction, YouTube, and payment processing). We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, or content of third parties. Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms.

Termination

You may stop using OurRecipes and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, abuse the service, or if we are required to do so by law. Where practical, we will notify you and give you an opportunity to export Your Content.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, governing law) survive.

Disclaimers

OurRecipes is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that defects will be corrected, or that recipes or other content will be accurate or complete. Cooking involves heat, sharp tools, and food safety considerations. Use your judgment.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will OurRecipes LLC, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of OurRecipes, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100).

Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless OurRecipes LLC from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) Your Content, (b) your use of the service, or (c) your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify account holders by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You and OurRecipes LLC agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Hennepin County, Minnesota, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
